How to Tell a Story As You Answer a SAQ “Should Ask Question”

Have you ever considered how much more powerful and PROFITABLE you will be when you apply storytelling for business to common business tasks such as answering FAQs?
Every industry has SAQs or “Should Asked Questions.” Whether your niche is golf, dog food, internet marketing, coaching or anything else, there are a dozen or more questions that people SHOULD ask you but don’t. Storytelling for business is the perfect complement to any SAQ. Here’s why.
I had a conversation with Perry Lawrence, Ask Mr. Video recently. We were talking about storytelling in videos. He thought about how powerful it would be to use storytelling to create one particular type of video.
“Yes, that is important,” I told him, “And have you considered how powerful it is to add a story to your SAQ videos?”
He hesitated, and I’m sure he was thinking that video storytelling in a format that should be no more than a couple of minutes would add too much time to a video. People’s attention span is so short these days that you have to do everything in 2 minute bites. Unfortunate, but true.
After a beat of silence, I asked Perry, “How about a demonstration that will take less than 90 seconds?”
Without hesitation, he answered, “Sure.”
This story (which I have already shared here on on ProfitableStorytelling.com) is how I answered his question about how to tell a SAQ story in video: Read More —>
This is what I told Ask Mr. Video:
One of the questions people should ask before they write a book is,”‘Where am I leading the customer AFTER the book?” Hardly anybody thinks of this, and it is like cutting out the bottom of your wallet so all the money falls out.
One of my newer clients has a completed book. I asked him, “What comes after the book?”
He asked me, “Uh…What do you mean?”
How will you invite the reader to keep giving you wallet share – keep doing business with you?
Again, he hesitated and finally said, ‘I’d like to do some consulting.’
When you think about how the book will grow your business BEFORE you write the book and structure the book to grow your business, you will earn more money because you are an author, gain customers from inside the pages of your book, and gain Instant Credibility with everyone you meet.
Discover a simple system for how to write a book that explodes your business at www.InstantCredibilitybook.com.
That’s how it works.
Now imagine if I had only said that a SAQ is “What comes after the book?” and gave a quick answer. Because I told you a story about it, you were emotionally drawn in. You felt badly for the author and you felt how this mistake would indeed hurt your business and lose you money.
Storytelling adds a powerful punch that gets the message across better than you can do by making a statement.
So here’s the Storytelling Template(TM) for how to tell a SAQ “Should Ask Question” story:
1. Setup: First, set the stage. “One of the questions I wish people would ask me about ____ is…”
2. Story: Show the reader why the question is a SAQ by sharing a story from your business. “An example is a conversation I have all the time…”
3. Summary: Teach the viewer how to avoid the problem you talk about in the SAQ. “When you ___, you can avoid ___” or “when you ___, you will have a much better chance of ___.”
4. Sizzle: Give a call to action that shows the viewer how to work with you. “Discover how to _____ at www YourDomain.com”
